Hands Down (Clawed Hand) The Creature is My Favorite Movie Monster

My fellow Cool & Collected bloggers have the assignment of writing about our favorite movie monsters.  The Creature of the Black Lagoon is hands down my favorite movie monster follow by a very distant Mummy!  Growing un in the Kansas City metro area in the late 60's & 70's, I watched Friday Fright night each week with my father on our CBS affiliate.  The Night Stalker, The Abominable Dr. Phibes, giant mutated ants, the Mummy, and Dracula were all exciting to young boy, but the Creature was my go to movie monster.  The highlight of most Friday nights was the time spent with my dad (until he would reach out and grab my leg during a suspenful moment each week!)

I have many games and toys that I am on the look out for, but most likely the most difficult find will be the Creature board game by Hasbro.

The Monsters Cafe at Universal Studios in Orlando has a wonderful collection of monster movie props, photos, and costumes.  I wonder what the Creature and President Nixon were discussing?

Thank for sharing in my love for the Creature.  I hope you have a happy Halloween!  Please check out my fellow bloggers favorite movie monsters posts; Cool and Collected.

  1. I'm curious about the Nixon connection myself.

Gillman was on par with Frankenstein for my favorite, but he was the first monster whose series I saw in its entirety. Much like how he was the missing link between man and fish, it seems he was also the bridge between the supernatural creatures of the '40s and the science base exploits of the '50s and '60s.
