Oh my, I wish I had a cool grand to go shopping at Hakes Auction. This week's League of Extraordinary Blogger's assignment is to take an imaginary shopping trip.
When visiting the Hake's Americana & Collectibles site,
be sure to sign up for a free catalog. The catalogs are a great keepsake by
themselves!
Many of my favorite pop culture icons are represented including Chitty Chitty Bang, Bang, Spy vs. Spy, Vampirella, Creature of the Black Lagoon, and King Kong.
Several weeks ago my wife and I watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on Netflixs. It was a trip back to my childhood. Even all these years later, the child catcher can send shivers down my spine! This past January of 2013 while recuperating from gall bladder surgery, I found a wonderful 1968 copy of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by Milton Bradley. How I would love a Corgi collectable.
Have you ever seen the collectible slogan, "the time to buy collectibles is when you see them." Well I think I forgot that advice last April while attending the massive toy show in Chicago. I passed on a framed collection of Creature of the Black Lagoon Creature Feature collectible cards. How I would love to right that wrong.
As a teenager, I was a huge fan of Spy vs. Spy. The story of Antonio Prohais is amazing. He was a Cuban exile who fought for free speech. For a themed game from the 1980's, Spy vs. Spy is rather fun, and the cover is beautiful.
How I would love to own an original piece of Spy vs. Spy art. AMAZING!
Despite these wonderful items, I have save the best for last. How I would love to own a Fay Wray signed print. I suspect I would have to bid against our Cool and Collected host.......
Huge kudos to Brian for having his Kickstarter funded. Please check out several of my fellow bloggers shopping trips; Neato Coolville and AEIOU and Sometimes Why (what a great blog name.) Who doesn't love Disney pins and Buck Rogers?
I am a proud contributing member of the LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY BLOGGERS.
Hey thanks for the comment on the blog name. Took me awhile to come up with it when I got started :)
